On November 15th, Yang Yiting, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji University's School of Mathematical Sciences, and Zhu Penggao, a counselor, led a delegation of over 30 students to visit our institute. They held a symposium and exchange meeting with our faculty and students around the training of top-notch talent. Present at the meeting were Rang Guanglin, Director of the Department of Probability and Statistics Science, Xue Jiangwei, Director of the Algebra Teaching and Research Office, Hu Xuehong, Director of the Teaching Office, Hu Fala, Director of the Student Affairs Office, and student representatives. Rang Guanglin presided over the meeting.

Rang Guanglin extended a warm welcome on behalf of the institute to the teachers and students from Tongji University. He briefly introduced Wuhan University's long-standing history, profound mathematical heritage, and the unique charm of Luojia Mountain in autumn. He emphasized that both institutes shoulder the responsibility of cultivating top-notch talent in fundamental disciplines for the country, and this exchange is of great significance for serving the strategic development needs of the country and promoting discipline construction and talent training.

Yang Yiting introduced the development history, discipline construction, and top-notch talent training system of Tongji University's School of Mathematical Sciences. He pointed out that the institute focuses on the "Mathematics Top-notch Base" and "Hua Luogeng Class" as key points, and comprehensively improves the quality of talent training through honors courses, student-led discussion classes, undergraduate academic annual meetings, summer schools and short courses, and international exchanges.
Hu Xuehong introduced the faculty, research platforms, and educational teaching reform of Wuhan University's School of Mathematics and Statistics. She pointed out that the institute has constructed a "Five-in-One" ideological and political education pattern, vigorously promoted educational teaching reform, established 11 teaching and research offices, systematically reconstructed the curriculum system, and focused on creating characteristic education projects such as the "Climbing Plan" and "Mathematics +", comprehensively solidifying the foundation of talent training.

In the student academic report session, outstanding undergraduate representatives from both universities shared their academic exploration and research findings. Yang Shuhan from Tongji University gave a report titled "Exploration of Statistical Thinking in Engineering Experiments", where she combined examples such as the C919 large aircraft's ultimate load test and SpaceX's rocket recovery to explain how to use statistical methods to solve engineering problems. Mu Site from Wuhan University gave a report titled "On Brouwer's Fixed Point Theorem", where he rigorously explained the proof ideas from two different perspectives: algebraic topology and differential topology.
During the exchange session, both teachers and students engaged in lively discussions on topics such as the selection and exit mechanism for top-notch talent, competition organization, and early cultivation of students' research abilities.

This exchange activity has built a platform for mutual learning and exchange, broadening the ideas for talent training work. Both sides expressed that they will take this opportunity to continue deepening cooperation and jointly contribute to the training of top-notch mathematics talent urgently needed by the country.
