We will talk about our recent work, a resolution of a longstanding problem on the sharp curl-Sobolev inequality for differential forms on the round sphere. We then present its geometric and variational applications that settle several open problems and conjectures in geometry and mathematical physics. This is a joint work with Mingwei Zhang.

王国芳，1990年中国科学院数学研究所博士毕业，毕业后任教于中国科学院系统研究所，1994年至2006年分别在德国Bochum大学及德国Max-Planck 应用数学研究所从事研究工作，2006年至2009年任德国Magdeburg大学教授，2009年至今任德国Freiburg大学教授。其研究方向为几何分析与偏微分方程，在调和映照、极小曲面、Liouville方程、Toda系统、k-Yamabe方程、Sasaki-Einstein度量、高阶正质量定理、几何不等式、几何自由边值问题等方面做出了一系列重要成果，在包括Duke, CPAM, JDG, JEMS, Crelle’s Journal, Amer. J. Math., Adv. Math., Comm. Math. Phys., Math. Ann. 等一流数学杂志发表论文100余篇。
